The Hardin College Band of Wichita Falls brings a 55 piece concert group to Amarillo for a Cavalcade of Melody at Municipal Auditorium at 8 pm. Proceeds aid charity. ticket prizes reward top sellers from local bands. admission ranges from 50 cents to 1.50 dollars.

Suit Opened Against Bar In Amarillo Gambling Injunction
The anti gambling injunction suit against the Rex Bar opened in the 47th District Court shortly before noon today after jurors were secured. Filed by the district and county attorneys the suit accuses Jack A Shaffer operator of the bar of maintaining a public nuisance and seeks a court order closing the bar and requiring posting ad. The state alleges the Rex Bar is a gambling place with a bad reputation and a hangout for gamblers. Hearing opened with testimony from D W Lowe Texas Liquor Control Board on license records. Deposition of J D Duke the local constable was postponed due to his surgery and home confinement. Jury members listed include Ray Doerfler Clark Alton Luther Glover T D Hefley W C Howell J W Taylor L D Biggers Perry Spencer L D Foreman Lyle Dent Morris Bankhead and Townsend Douglas. The Rex Bar at 407 East Tenth is among four injunctive suits filed last October against Amarillo bars by Lloyd King and Roy Snodgrass. Operators are represented by George McCarthy and Jim Collins.
