Six weeks old and nameless, Queen the monkey's latest arrival at the Tri-State Fair grounds zoo attracts big crowds. Queen fiercely guards her baby while Jumbo and other monkeys watch from a distance as keepers search for fitting names.
The German airship Hindenburg landed at Lakehurst Naval Air Station at 5:03 AM completing a 78 hour 27 minute westward crossing from Frankfurt. Passengers disembarked for customs and were bused to the hangar for final checks before flying to Newark. Resettlement Administration work in the Plains continues despite a DC Circuit Court of Appeals ruling. Governor Allred to request National Guard aid for Central Centennial crowd control.
On May 20 Ralph W. Morrison Texas businessman resigned as a member of the federal reserve board citing differences with other members over banking and business regulation. Reports say Morrison who built an electric power outfit and later entered banking had clashed with Chairman Marriner Eccles over board policy and supervision of banking. Morrison is said to be at his San Antonio home after leaving Washington last month. President Roosevelt indicated he would not accept the resignation until discussing the matter.
A decayed unidentified man found about a mile southeast of Jack Hall's Ranch with a head wound and fractured skull. Amarillo boys Phil Earnest Marvin Yeakle and Jack Nicholson reported the body. deputies investigated noting possible flood-driven placement and ruling out suicide.
Washington reports reveal Townsend leaders proposed a 1 000 000 aged march on the capital with Townsend forces and Father Coughlin in 1935. The plan surfaced during a House inquiry into Townsend motor caravan activities and linked figures include Dr Francis E Townsend and Gomer Smith.
Partly cloudy tonight and Thursday with fair conditions. West Texas and New Mexico show similar patterns with a colder extreme north central portion tonight. Temperatures range between 58 and 77 degrees.
The 80-year-old widow of poet Eugene Field appeals from a Hartford Junction hospital for a $3,000 loan to stave off foreclosure on her 160 acre Wisconsin farm. Her son Eugene II says he has invested about $50,000 and cannot obtain a loan, while Jesse Henry in St Louis confirms the widow remains alive and aids the effort.
Roland C Casad, potential US presidential candidate, visited The News Globe office in Amarillo early, leaving pamphlets and a card urging readers to solve the money question and form a Casad for President Club. He planned to return to Covina California, then Cleveland for the Republican convention, endorsing a unified two party system and backing the Townsend Old Age Pension Plan.

Mrs. Sara Delano Roosevelt 82, mother of President, fell stepping to a six inch step at New York home visiting the President's grandchildren. X rays show an impacted hip and a cracked bone. she remains in Hyde Park with bed rest advised for two weeks. The President plans to visit Hyde Park for a few days.
Warsaw reports Poland's new government exposed a Nazi plan to detach upper Silesia from Poland and join it to Germany. One hundred eighteen NSDAP members in upper Silesia face trial for conspiracy. the case centers on leader Paul Maniura who recently hanged himself. The trial begins June 2 at Katowice after arrests linked to military activities.
Two charred bodies found at the wreckage site near Harelson Louisiana. One identified as Harry P. Williams 46 a member of a wealthy southern family and husband of silent film star Marguerite Clark. May 20 1930s report notes.
Mary Hallett, a WPA worker for the New York board of education, sued after a ventilator bolt crushed her hat costing $3. Investigations showed negligence. corporation counsel and the law committee urged payment. The full board would vote May 27 with auditor vouchers to follow and a $100 investigation cost noted.
The Panhandle folk festival parade opened this afternoon tracing four centuries of Plains history from Spanish explorers to ranchers and farmers. Notables included Capt. W. H. Inger ton and Judge L. Gough, with a covered wagon and a duck wagon symbolizing farming and ranching. Mrs. L. O. Thompson rode side-saddle, praised by hundreds in attendance.
