Hartford May 17 Walter E Shean of Springfield Massachusetts partner in crime of Gerald Chapman recently executed for murdering a policeman during a New Britain robbery on October 12 1924 was sentenced to state prison for one to five years. He pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and being an accessory to statutory burglary after nineteen months in jail awaiting disposition.

The Canyon No. 3 oil well is reported by its owners to produce between 8,000 and 10,000 barrels daily. After 73 hours of drilling the well yielded 360 barrels, equivalent to about 8,600 barrels per day. The well depth is 2,805 feet, located 135 feet above sea level.

Hartwell Tucker Cornelius 71 known as Uncle Tuck was found dead at 301 East Fourth Street. He helped found Amarillo and owned a market and grocery for 25 years. Survived by widow and seven children in Amarillo and beyond. Body under care of N S Griggs and Sons pending relatives’ word on funeral plans.
James A. Leroy, the escaped convict, was arrested at a Fourth Street cigar counter with detectives Webb and Allen. A woman, held as an accomplice, described an organized gang of robbers operating from Amarillo, with Leroy admitting past jobs in Amarillo White Deer and Panhandle including a post office and jewelry store break‑ins. Her husband is detained for questioning.
Rev. O M Huey of Louisville Kentucky, messenger to the southern Baptist convention, rode to Galveston on an excursion and reported losing more than $100 plus the railroad fare. He joked that the car carried other passengers besides messengers and defended ministers from accusations of theft.
