Costly blaze brings cranes yard under control
A massive fire swept a square Port Richmond lumber yard and spread to Cranes shipyard and nearby homes. Firemen reported losses well over a million dollars and a physician died en route to the scene. About 400 firefighters fought the blaze from six alarms starting at 1 45 A M. One night watchman Michael Regan was missing. Dozens of spectators and residents were injured.
