Col Laurence E Mee commanding under martial law says 30 guardsmen will go home today leaving about 100 on duty. Police and firemen testified to identify mob members involved in the courthouse fire and the fatal shooting of a negro in the attack. The courthouse wreckage remains with vaults and dynamite remnants seen after demolition.
Admiral Hilary P. Jones told the foreign relations committee that the new cruiser classifications and the eight inch limit clash with prior policy and could invite tensions with France Italy and Britain while warning that a 20 knot speed would aid raiders. Admiral Pratt argued the US entered London with no cruiser assets and secured the best possible agreement.
Honolulu May 15 Staff Sergeant Joe Becker from Luke Field died in a forced landing of a bombing plane in the ocean channel between Maui and Hawaii. Ten other army and navy air service men were saved by other planes and surface vessels.
A man about 60 identified as Wesson died this morning after driving his truck onto railroad tracks in front of a passing train near Midland Texas. The incident occurred on the rail line near the Dock area.
