Sheriff To Air Liquor Complaint Filed Here

A minister from a neighboring town was arrested on a liquor charge last night and the complaint dismissed by County Attorney H K Stanfield. Deputy Sheriff Kelly said the liquor case would be presented to the grand jury while Stanfield acknowledged no filing. The men paid fines on disturbing the peace charges, and the sheriff said the matter would be reviewed by the grand jury.

Kansan Ed Howe to Visit Amarillo Next Week

W. M. Howe of Atchison Kansas father of Gene Howe publisher of The News Globe will visit Amarillo for four or five days. He plans to tour the oil field and large ranches in the Panhandle and says he is especially interested in seeing remaining big ranches. He spent many years as a youth in Wyoming.

Convicted Bank Robber James Leroy Escapes Train Capture

James A. Leroy alias Billy Burkheart, a 37 year old Louisiana convict, overpowered Deputy Sheriff G A Kendrick on a Fort Worth and Denver train, seized the guard’s pistol, stole about 200 dollars, then leaped from the moving train near the station. Local officers believe he escaped. Leroy had been held for return to the prison farm after a July robbery sentence.
