prominent Texas Democrats predict William Gibbs McAdoo will win the Democratic presidential nomination with Texas forty delegates backing him at the national convention. Potter county led the state in support, and most counties followed, resisting Gov. Pat Neff and signaling a bandwagon rally toward McAdoo.
Dallas May 7 William Gibbs McAdoo is forecast to lead the Texas delegation to the national Democratic convention in New York after county meetings reported McAdoo 696 delegates to 63 for Underwood and 180 uninstructed from 119 of 252 counties. Gov Pat Neff backed uninstructed delegates but McAdoo won in McLennan after a close contest.
Oklahoma City May 7 Democrats at a state convention endorsed William G. McAdoo for president but declined to instruct its twenty delegates to the national convention. The move splits factions who favored a McAdoo instructed delegation.
Detroit May 7 Henry Ford will not appear personally before the senate agricultural committee nor have a representative appeal he told Senator Norris chairman in a letter. The reply was mailed from the motor manufacturer’s Dearborn office after a request for Ford to explain his offer.
Standard Oil of Louisiana announced it purchased 28 000 tons of iron pipe from the National Tube Company to build a pipeline from the Louisiana field to Texas.
Ten week old Corinne Modell was found by police in the home of Mrs. Mary DeMarco who confessed she took the baby to fool her husband German DeMarco. Both DeMarco couple were arrested. the child’s mother reacted with a fainting cry upon learning the recovery.
Governor Pat M. Neff may meet rival William G. McAdoo in Austin when the Democrat candidate passes through on Friday. McAdoo will stop for about twenty minutes at 11 oclock, with invitations extended to department heads for a possible encounter.
Governor Neff to decide today whether he will attend the state Democratic convention in Waco as a delegate. He was elected by Travis county Democrats to lead the county delegation and press for an uninstructed delegation on the convention floor.
Anecdotes of Sam Houston’s early life in Tennessee collected by Will A. McTeer have been sent to the Texas secretary of state for official archives. Kiwanis club at Amarillo hotel staged a noon program of stunts and laughs led by J. D. Hancock. W. A. Palmer won best windjammer in a balloon race and Tony Chisum claimed rag chewer title. A Kiwanis court found F. B. Means guilty in a mock trial with six women jurors. Wade Holman’s team won the membership drive and Holman was named a Denver national convention delegate.
Conferees reconsider Japanese exclusion timing and report a provision to make exclusion effective March 1 1925 with abrogation of the Gentlemen's Agreement to be negotiated. President Coolidge opposes July 1 and backs March 1 1926 as the effective date, signaling a floor fight in Congress.

A severe earthquake centered about 625 miles off the Philippines eastern coast was recorded in Manila at 12 10 PM today. Four after shocks followed the main tremor.
President Coolidge and Republican leaders map a bold plan to clear Congress by June. Talks with House and Senate leaders focus on farm relief and tax measures, with June 7 proposed adjournment and caution over the McNary-Haugen capital provision.
At Graff's crossing near Amsterdam New York eight people died when the Twentieth Century Limited train struck an enclosed car. Mr and Mrs John Acee of Amsterdam and their three children were among the dead along with Shahanda Harb of Utica and her three year old daughter and David Spirano an Amsterdam mill worker. Acee reportedly failed to see the speeding westbound train. The impact threw the car onto a second track and carried Mrs Acee and one child nearly a mile on the locomotive pilot.
J. F. Ellis notes Panhandle families host visitors flocking to the oil field. A large shed is rented to a man who sublets cot space. He says a hotel will be built soon if the town must.
In Springfield Massachusetts on May 17 the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church South ratified unification. Bishop McDowell closed the report as Dr Downey presented the action. The vote totaled 802 to ???.
W J Burns head of the justice investigation bureau told the Daugherty committee that a shadow agent assigned to Means did not involve the disappearance of Means diaries. Burns said Bonner secretly watched Means at the suggestion of Hiram C. Todd as Mannington’s influence-money ties surfaced with Daugherty.
Paris May 7 Premier Poincare said at a banquet of the French chambers of commerce that France would restore Germany's economic unity when the Reich implements the experts' program but not before. He warned that Germany's attack on the franc and Germany's Sunday elections necessitate greater French vigilance.
Washington May 7 report says the senate investigation into alleged Texas land frauds was postponed again due to continued illness of Senator Heflin Democrat Alabama.
The Anti Saloon League of New York and Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler clash after Butler condemned prohibition in a public address. League counsel asks Republican leaders if Butler reflects party views. Butler calls league officials ecclesiastical politicians and warns of legal filing. Morris says Butler does not speak for the party.
Amarillo plans a special trade train to Brownwood with 61 definite signups and 35 Canyon band members aboard. Thirteen towns will be visited as Dallas Fort Worth Plainview and Lubbock pledge trains. leaders urge merchants to sign up fast to secure West Texas Chamber of Commerce convention attendance and potential 5000 delegates visiting Amarillo.
Dorset Carter, president of Pan-Tex Pipe Line Co., will return to Amarillo from Oklahoma City tomorrow. He is expected to make an important refinery announcement after his return. His fire program includes two more refineries for Amarillo, likely near the Reese Allen Refinery where an office building is under construction.
