Public School Board Approves Teacher Pay Hikes
The school board approved a 27 percent pay increase funded from three sources. Funding comes from a state per pupil allotment increase to 55 dollars, higher property valuations, and a 5 cent rise in the operating tax rate. A 15 cent debt service tax hike follows a 2 million dollar bond issue. Minimum teacher pay rises from 1800 to 2200, with tax rate projected at 1.45 after the 1947 48 budget is set.
