Buffalo Lake has filled to last year levels with water from two small ponds totaling about 15 acres. The government patrol boat was used to recover drowned cattle as the lake rose. The Recreation Hall will reopen this weekend and boating and fishing facilities, including unrestricted catfish catches, are available again.
The Alamo Exposition Show opens Monday May 12 for a six day run. Brought by Post 1907 V F W it will be at Fourth and Jefferson. Murphy’s Hawaiian Village will offer singing and music while the monkey circus features a mother and her young with 29 other monkeys riding tricycles and skating.
The Amarillo Chamber of Commerce is preparing and mailing two sets of membership cards one for office display in a new size and shape and one for the billfold. The “For a Greater Amarillo” motto is printed on the office cards. A full membership drive for the year has not been decided.
Washington report says the federal government will crack down on income tax returns for small payers for the first time. Delinquencies under 5000 dollars run about twice as high as last year as Ways and Means discusses a 3.6 billion revenue bill. The Internal Revenue Bureau adds 1731 deputy collectors to tighten collections and checks employer informational returns against employee filings. About 8 million people filed taxes this year for the first time.

At its monthly meeting Khiva Patrol of the Mystic Shrine voted unanimously to purchase two $100 defense bonds. The patrol led by president Hugo Loewenstern also prepared for the spring ceremonial set for Thursday of next week.
