North Texas continued to rain, delaying cotton planting in Waco and hindering highway traffic while benefiting wheat and livestock forage in drought-affected areas.
John H. Moss of Milwaukee Kiwanis International will visit the Amarillo Kiwanis Club on Saturday May 22 staying through Sunday. The Lennix No. 1 well surged to about 18000 barrels per day in the Dixon Creek field before stabilizing and drawing attention from operators. Nearby Lennix well, spurred by a shot, held at over 3000 barrels daily. Geographically tied to Polk Street area, the rush caused excitement as crews monitored output.
Jim Stuart of 1210 Fillmore street fought off two men who demanded money at Twelfth and Fillmore between 11 30 and midnight. He was shot in the thigh and taken to a home where a doctor treated the wound. Stuart, 19, works for Colorado Fuel and Iron and said he acted on instinct, striking the assailants as they fled in darkness. Police were notified last night but said they knew nothing until today.
Houston May 6 Practical all large marketing firms including Texas Gulf Humble Magnolia and Pierce raised gasoline by 1 cent per gallon. New quotations are 19 cents at filling stations and 16 cents tank wagon, up from 18 and 15. Strong motor demand and falling crude output are cited as causes. Prices apply across Texas.
