Air Base bids for new mess halls advertised

Advertisement for bids to erect additional mess halls at Amarillo Air Force Base will be issued next week. John Soderburg, Corps of Engineers engineer in charge, says the exact number of mess halls is not announced and bids will be opened in Tulsa. Other bids soon due include 102 barracks buildings by May 8 and electrical distribution with street lighting by May 11, along with steam distribution work.

Flames Damage Tech Infirmary At Texas Tech

Senate bans slot machines in Texas crime bill

The Texas Senate gave final approval to a crime control bill banning slot machines and pay-off marble boards, with five-ball pinball included. Possession becomes a felony with two to four years in prison. magistrates may issue warrants at discretion. The measure now goes to the House for concurrence in minor amendments.
