State troopers investigating a fatal shooting in Lathams near Albany found Edward H. Ireland 75 dead and his wife 74 critically wounded. Troopers P J Fitzpatrick and C J Kanier were wounded in the confrontation, reportedly by Ireland’s son John Ireland 40. The Rev Michael J Dwyer aided the troopers at the scene.

Seven ringleaders were placed in solitary confinement after a two hour riot by about 400 inmates at the Florence Arizona state prison. Certificates earned by Amarillo and Canyon men and women in a Red Cross first aid training school will be distributed in a meeting Thursday night. Mrs. Arthur Ball announced Bishop Robert E. Lucey will present the certificates. W. B. Stinson chairs the Potter County Red Cross first aid division. The meeting likely in the County Courtroom at 7:30 PM.
A Northrop fighting plane crashed in the high mountains north of March Field killing two airmen. Officials blamed static that blocked a radio marker on the valley below as Lt Robert C. Tove, 28, guided the craft through rain and sleet while searching for the Pontana radio range.
Settlement of the personal injury damage suit Marvin Templeton filed against Casualty Underwriters was reported at the district clerk's office. Templeton, allegedly injured May 20 1934 while employed by Kiser, received 750 dollars with one third to his attorney.

Funeral services for John Wilson Turner a 75 year old Randall County pioneer will be held Wednesday at 2 PM at Griggs Thompson Funeral Home Canyon Rev Earl Craig will officiate Turner known as Judge Turner came to the Plains in 1888 served as justice of the peace in 1889 and helped build pioneer homes He is survived by W H Turner of Umbarger niece Mrs Viola Cook Amarillo two grand nieces Lorna and Gene Cook and a grand nephew Paul Cook Burial will be in Llano Cemetery Amarillo.
The Panhandle Grain Dealers Association will hold its annual convention in Amarillo on May 17 and 18. Association secretary Joe Morris announced the event will follow Oklahoma and Kansas sessions and precede the Texas state meeting, with several Midwest grain leaders likely in attendance. Committees include J B Davis Jack Greenman and H C Adams on the program and A A Henneman Harry Kearnes and Warren Howard on entertainment.
Three Amarillo men were injured yesterday near Plainview when their car overturned eight miles north of town. C. F. Reeves Real Silk Company branch manager suffered head injuries and a bruised arm. Elmer Emmans and C. W. Davis salesmen had only slight bruises. They were en route to Lubbock.
The Khiva Shriners announce a benefit dance Friday night featuring Carlton Scales and his 11 piece orchestra. proceeds go to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children. The event runs 9 to 12 on the Temple’s third floor with admission of 1 dollar per couple.

Chief W. R. McDowell reported Lemaster’s car found at Twenty-Second Avenue and South Garfield this morning. Lemaster said only one or two gallons were used and he was frightened yet unharmed after a brief two hour absence from his store. He recalled a prior kidnapping by three youths lasting longer.

Chicago reports that keeper Arthur Aitken was clawed and mangled by a 300 pound chimpanzee named Big Mike during a feeding amid 180 frightened visitors. Mitzi aided the attack before Abe Parrat disabled the animals with a club. Aitken is in serious condition at Oak Park area hospital.
