Urge Clean Up In Waste Fats in Amarillo March Push

Sergeant Golladay Transferred to Another War Area

Sergeant Chester W. Golladay, formerly assistant manager at the State Theater, is no longer stationed in Australia and is being transferred to another theater of war. In a letter to his parents, he mentions Bryce Beard as purser on his ship and that he wishes the Globe-News informed of his new address to receive all Jeep issues. He and Beard talked about their days in Amarillo.

Mrs Minnie Howell Dies in Crosbyton Hospital

Mrs Minnie Lee Howell of Crosbyton died in a local hospital at 1:30 this morning after recent Yama treatment. She was 33. Survived by husband Charlie Howell. Body sent to Crosbyton by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. funeral arrangements to be completed there.

Legion Adopts Resolution Praising Roy Pollard

Hanson Post No. 4 of the American Legion notes a resolution praising the loyalty patriotism and zeal of Roy Pollard and expresses sympathy to Mrs Pollard for the loss of her husband. The resolution signed by E C Nelson F H McGregor and A K Baracat was sent to department and national headquarters.

Soldier's Medal Awarded to Colonel Richardson for bravery

Lt Col George S Richardson received the Soldier's Medal for rescuing two men from a blazing plane in North Africa. He, a flight surgeon, aided six more evacuees as ammunition exploded around them. He is stationed in England after serving in Egypt and Tripoli operations.

Red Cross Home Nursing Course Opened at Shrine Temple

Headquarters for the Red Cross Home Nursing Course have been established at the Shrine Temple Fifth Avenue and Fillmore Streets. Mrs Joe Jenkins chairman announced an appeal for women to take the course urging at least one trained person per home. Telephone 7066 or attend the class at 9 o clock Friday morning. Mrs Dorothy Sullens will instruct the classes which meet each Friday and Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 o'clock.

R. J. Broyles Enters Giant Egg in Contest

R J Broyles of 1105 Buchanan Street entered a giant Rhode Island Red egg in the Old Tack sponsored contest. The egg was weighed and measured by judges. Broyles remarked he wants to see what is inside after the contest. Only the judges will reveal the weights and measurements.

Lt. Ann Maness former supervisor at Northwest Texas Hospital and nurse for Drs Patton and Carroll was rescued from German forces after her plane crashed in Albania last November. She had been reported as an escaper, with ten other nurses escaping earlier in January. Maness, who entered Army nursing in Lubbock, lived in Amarillo for years. her family remains in Paris, Texas.

Federal Judge J F T O Connor said the first of two Mann Act counts against Charlie Chaplin for a 1942 trip of Joan Berry to New York would go to a jury. Separate dispatch reports Stalin announced Kolomea capture with 11 mile advance toward Czechoslovakia. The Lake Michigan smelt population reportedly vanished in winter 1943.
