Miss Jewell Davidson, Potter County tax officer, reports a surge in passenger car registrations near 5,000 and about 700 commercial vehicles for the year. She warns that lost papers slow payments and urges preparation of last year's license plate receipt or 957 number. Personal checks are barred for individual payments at the deadline.
Louise Massey and the Westerners, a renowned vocal and instrumental group, will be heard Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 45 over KGNC. The group, from Lincoln County New Mexico, grew up in Texas and Mexico and performs cowboy songs with authentic stories and lively Western humor in the program Ridin the Range.
In Hollywood a new eatery exclusively for dogs named Foxio Dog Restaurant will debut. Owner Leonard Fox promises deluxe canine cuisine and a special entrance with easy car exit. A grand opening floor show features a flying smoking dog named Arthur who has appeared on radio and in films.

The Supreme Court ruled the Public Utility Holding Company Act constitutional. Interstate holding companies must register with the Securities and Exchange Commission and file financial statements. Chief Justice Hughes delivered the decision, marking a government victory.

Amarillo man K. Huddleston travels with four highway patrolmen and six others to Comanche for the funeral of his father Hall Huddleston who died Sunday. Hall Huddleston had served seven years as Comanche city secretary. funeral is scheduled for tomorrow.
James Stephenson pleaded guilty this morning before Justice of the Peace HM W Duke to charges of tort and was assessed a short sentence. Jess Slade was jailed this morning on a charge of assault with intent to kill in connection with an attack on Jim Guleki. He appeared before Justice of the Peace H. W. Duke who set bond at $1,500. Examinations on various topics were to be held May 4 and 5 for those seeking to take the examinations, with students advised to see him to apply for questions on desired subjects.
General Malin Craig declares swift mobilization essential to peace and national safety. He notes lessons from World War I and outlines a 12 day study with 50 officers to plan manpower mobilization aiming for 300,000 volunteers in 30 days.
Berks County Public Assistance Board closes old Reading city hall after the Machemer family with ten children and about 25 league members occupy the building. 40 to 50 clerks sent home. offices to stay closed until the family leaves.
