Cosmetology Bill Advances Toward State Oversight
A revised Texas cosmetology bill to place beauty operators under state health department supervision and abolish the existing three member board was favorably reported by a Senate committee. Rep. L. J. Sulak said revisions improve enforceability while a director would administer rules. H. P. Pullen of Brownsville opposed, claiming the measure grants dictatorial powers to one official. The committee had recommitted the measure for modification.
