Snake Hunters Return With 21 Snakes From Spring Ride
The New Mexico champion snake hunters Cleve Hallenbeck and Jay Duvall of Roswell report returning from their annual hunt with 21 snakes ranging from 18 inches to six feet. District conservationist Austin Klahn of Dalhart notes rattlers are abundant in the Panhandle with abandoned farmland and rodent activity aiding their spread. He cites no safe method to kill snakes other than hunting them, while warning of ongoing dangers and a lack of quicker control methods. Farm notes highlight a giant parsnip and a local dairy giveaway of eggs and milk to churches and civic clubs in Clarendon. Other items mention spring activities and local appointments, with various notices and social notes from Amarillo and surrounding areas.
