Plane Skids on Icy Runway. 52 aboard, No Injuries
An Air International C-46 airliner skidded on an icy municipal airport runway, crashed through two wire fences and nosed into an embankment. No one was injured among 52 people aboard including 3 crew and 49 passengers. The plane, en route from Burbank to Newark, remained largely undamaged. Pilot L D Weatherford, 31, of Pasadena, said speed dropped to about 15 mph before impact. Most passengers continued by train or other flights.

Deaths Ruled Murder In San Augustine Family Tragedy
In San Augustine Texas an inquest returned a verdict of murder and death by own action for Mrs. R. W. Phelps aged 52 and her son Billy Ray 15 found shot to death in their south San Augustine home. Billy Ray was shot in the right temple in bed and Mrs. Phelps in the left temple a gun found on the floor near her body by Louis Fonville of Houston.
