Panhandle Music Festival Showcases Ten City Bands
A 500 member band program entertained at 1 30 o clock on the Municipal Auditorium lawn as the feature of the Panhandle Music Festival. Ten cities were represented in 12 bands forming a giant organization. New Mexico provided three bands, Amarillo two, with entries from Dalhart Perryton Panhandle McLean Tulsa Hereford and Plainview. Contests continued with band and orchestra events and piano subdivisions. Amarillo High School led Class A vocal honors. Central Junior High and Buchanan Street Junior High led Class C orchestra. Multiple high school girls and mixed choruses earned top honors across districts.

The body was dumped in the Brazos River near East Columbia after weighing.
