In Austin a House session saw Rep. W. O. Reed and Rep. Abe Mays nearly fight during debate on a Senate bill. The measure would require State Railroad Commission examiners to be lawyers for five years before serving, aiding trucking regulation. Mays accused Reed of railroad ties. Reed labeled him a liar and advanced toward Mays before sergeants at arms intervened.
Treasury data show receipts 574.945 million and expenditures 519.437 million on March 15 leaving a balance of 1.760 billion. Customs receipts for the month total 26.991 million. Fiscal year to date receipts 3.070 billion and expenditures 5.117 billion, including 2.020 billion in emergency spending, with a gross debt of 34.717 trillion and gold assets 11.498 trillion.
4000 protesters gathered outside the Devolge plants demanding labor action as 28,000 workers remain inside. The strike follows a court writ forcing an injunction, with legal steps pending for separation or forced eviction. Governor Murphy's committee meets at 21 A.M. EST to mediate the dispute.
Health officials discussed locating a preventive tuberculosis center in Amarilion to care for children by day while returning home at night. The case involved Trinity Fire Insurance Company and Kerrville Hotel Company in Bexar County, with $190,000 in bonds negotiated by J F Jarratt Mortgage Co to finance the hotel. The loan carried seven percent interest and a $12,000 handling fee, which a jury deemed also interest.

The American Legion open forum discussed traffic safety the Supreme Court and chamber of commerce work. Chas Keffer opposed Roosevelt’s court plan while Herman Wright defended it. Sam Page presided as the hall, marking the Legion’s eighteenth anniversary.
The Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin reversed the case of Harry Henry of Amarillo who was sentenced to 10 years for a statutory offense. S. F. Rose, Henry’s attorney, said a new trial motion had been overruled by Judge EB. CG. Nelson Jr. on October 17. Henry has been jailed since conviction in the 47th District Court in September for an alleged assault on a girl under 18.
Railroad leaders press for a 360 million wage increase after agreeing with executives on a new retirement system for 1.5 million workers. They plan national wage conferences rather than system-by-system talks, with non operating staff seeking 20 percent raises and extended piecework and guaranteed hours. A Chicago conference is set for March 30 to take effect April 16, while engineers and other members of the brotherhood seek a 20 percent raise on March 22.
Justice McReynolds declared the Constitution preserved rights to life liberty and property and praised the nation's history as Congress faced a complex government. M. D. Carter, a former Texas railroad commission employee, was convicted in district court of conspiring to forge permits enabling movement of illegally produced oil from the Conroe field. He received a two year state prison sentence.

Ramona Porter, 16, fired six shots at her teacher Miss Charlotte Kennedy over public speaking grades in Muskogee Oklahoma. Police held Porter in city jail for investigation as bullets lodged in walls without injuring the teacher.

Willie Patton a young Amarillo resident was returned to county jail after his bond men and associates turned him over to the sheriff. In district court Tuesday the men asked to be relieved from the youth’s bond. Patton was back in jail cleaning the kitchen, the same job he held as trusty after his arrest on forgery charges.
