Tax measure would allow consolidation of tax offices
Potter County would gain consolidation of county, city and school tax offices if the ad valorem tax rebate measure passes at the November election. County auditor John Crudgington says full valuations would let Potter County assess taxes at 100 percent, versus the current 40 percent, enabling substantial rate reductions and more than doubling bonding capacity from about 47.6 million to roughly 110 million.

Fire damaging W H Dale residence near Van Buren
Firefighters reported a small blaze at the W. H. Dale residence at 1923 Van Buren about 8 30 this morning. Damage was limited to a few wall planks and broken plaster in a wall area where heat from an uninsulated stove vent elbow joint is believed to have started the fire.
