The Red Cross War Fund shows 47200 in the bank at noon from Potter County contributions. The Amarillo quota is 142500 with 64300 left to raise. Committee chairmen expect reports this afternoon but a full forecast awaits Friday night. Workers will call on Friday to maximize donations.

Color Harmony Hailed as New Kind of Music

Edward F. Creagh reports Philadelphia audiences acclaimed Louis Gesensway's color harmony as a bold 49 tone system. The Canadian born composer explains the eight diatonic notes each have five shades creating a new musical syntax. Gesensway, first violin of the Philadelphia Orchestra, drew ringing applause from a nearly unanimous ensemble audience.

Battle Front Bread Feature at Army Service Forces Show

The Army Service Forces exhibit opens March 22 for three days at the USO Auditorium Amarillo inviting the Panhandle. A quartermaster field bakery will bake four pound loaves in GI form for soldiers with ovens mixers and portable gear. Displays come from multiple Army branches and regional installations. Lt Francis Murphy will supervise displays with setup finished by March 26.

Ben Floyd Returns to Santa Fe After Visit

C Ben Floyd vice president and general manager of The New Mexican returned to Santa Fe after several days here. He hosted a farewell dinner for local friends before resuming his trip from Amarillo via Wichita Falls. He noted gasoline rationing hurting Santa Fe tourism but cited the city’s population doubling in the last decade. Floyd visited with nephew John Floyd in Springfield Missouri at Shepherd Field.

Services Set For Cecil Davis In San Francisco

Funeral services for Cecil Davis who died last Thursday in San Francisco will be held tomorrow at 10 in the Blackburn Shaw Memorial Chapel. Davis 28 was a welder for Lockheed. He is survived by his wife and his parents Charlie Davis Amarillo and Mrs Ethel Reynolds Bushyhead Okla and two brothers. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Also court fines totaling 130 dollars were collected at city hall this morning with five motorists fined one dollar each.

Willard W. Phillips announced policy holders in the Amarillo district will attend a noon luncheon at the Amarillo Hotel. A. F. Allen will present the annual report with E. Watts L. Guthrie and C. G.
