Biologist P F Allen of the U S Soil Conservation Service spoke at a Ladies Club meeting on Birds and Their Usefulness in the Garden. He noted the Texas Panhandle lies on a major migration route with 92 species seen locally and offered tips to attract birds. The event featured a Coca Cola film on flower arrangements, and a new feature column will appear in Garden Gossip. A long program of club activities and a lively calendar followed with many group meetings and social events listed.
Ellenn Grundy returns to Abilene with her husband M Darrell Grundy a Delta Kappa Chi staff member. Delta Kappa Gamma Amarillo meeting features Mrs Julia Deans Central Junior High Choir and guest Dr Cora M Martin. Educational Conference at Canyon March 14 includes tea at Mrs T B McCarter home. Grace Rogers named most talented at Gulf Park College She leads Jet Maskers May Queen alternate and active in athletic glee riding Delta Alpha Texas Club and sorority roles.
Mrs. Mickey Chambers, soon moving to Los Angeles, was honored at a surprise handkerchief shower hosted by Mrs. Terry Smith at 110 Alabama Street. After games, she was declared the winner and received a shower of handkerchiefs with hot chocolate cake and mints served. Guests included Mesdames Chambers, Dilday, Suggs, Cosby, Rutledge, Pinkley, Goodell, Worford, Brown, Lanier, Kennett, Emanuel, and Miss Mary Rynders and gifts from Mrs. W. N. Rynders.
The Sewzette Club met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. B Owsley's home 706 B Louisiana Street with Mesdames J R Macke J P Lynn E F Dickerson Jimmy Frame E Burleson Delbert Cooper W F Formby Boyd Reynolds L F Brown and the hostess attending. The club will meet March 28 with Mrs Reynolds 1008 Buchanan Street.
The Clara Hepburn Circle of Central Presbyterian Church will sponsor a rummage sale Friday afternoon and all day Saturday at 623 East Fourth Avenue. Circle 2 members of the First Christian Woman's Council hosted a dinner Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall with Neoteus Choir performing and Mrs Paschal and Melvyn Cobb contributing.
