W. G. Hill of the Panhandle Auto Club says 1928 will bring major safety advances from four wheel brakes on most cars to enhanced street and highway construction. He notes widespread brake improvements and easier handling along with widening and straightening of roads to reduce traffic accidents and ease travel.
Mexico City report says Jalisco Guanajuato Michoacan and Colima are stabilizing as Catholic protests wane. Comptroller S H Terrell announces immediate efforts to collect the three cent gasoline tax on petroleum derivatives used as gasoline substitutes. He cites a ruling by Assistant Attorney General R M Tilley that the act levies on such commodities whether or not they are strictly gasoline.
