Pinkney Packing Buys Grand Champion Pig At Amarillo Show

Pinkney Packing Company of Amarillo paid 25 cents a pound for the Grand Champion pig weighing 240 pounds owned by Guy Brock of Erick Oklahoma. They also bought the Reserve Champion pig from Jack Adams of Tulsa at 14 cents a pound weighing 215 pounds. C R Garner of Amarillo bought several head and the 16 pound Grand Champion ham at 50 cents a pound. The Panhandle Hereford sale featured 95 head and was led by renowned auctioneers Col Fred Reppert and Col Earl Gartin. The event preceded the grand finale pig and baby beef auctions at the Tri-State Fair Grounds.

Great Jurist Dies In Sleep Military Funeral Planned

Oliver Wendell Holmes died peacefully at 2 15 A M after a ten day illness at age 93. President Roosevelt led tributes saying the nation has lost one of its first citizens. Cabinet leaders and officials praised the former Supreme Court justice as plans for a military funeral were arranged by relatives at his Eye Street home. Chief Justice Hughes paid respects as arrangements moved forward.

Four Die In Shamrock Car Truck Crash Near Alaneed

A late night collision two miles west of Alaneed on Highway 66 left four dead and two injured. The dead include Ralph Inman 4 and Norma Jo Inman two, both of Shamrock, and Ralph E Daly 43 and Mrs. Inman's father. Mrs. Ralph F Daly is seriously hurt. others, Mrs J B Stringer and Miss Jakie Cude, sustained minor injuries. The truck driver fled after aiding victims. Funeral plans were pending relatives’ word.

FDR Warns Dollar High as Grain Prices Rise on Debt Relief
