Two American engineers, James Lauer Stauff of Pittsburgh and Alfred Rice Farmer of Memphis Texas, were fatally injured by a pressure blast at Negritos oil field Mile No. 6 in Peru. Stauff ordered retreat before the valve exploded. Slaughter and Sexon escaped. Stauff’s widow and two sons survive. Farmer’s widow flies to Texas. Bodies to be shipped home via steamer calling at Talara March 1.
