Two GIs in a hotel lobby discussed a map driven wager claiming Texas extends farther west than Denver, farther east than Kansas City, farther south than Palm Beach and farther north than Cape Hatteras. The Texas friend won on all counts prompting disbelief.
Mrs Wayne Strimple of 1315 Taylor learns from a letter that her husband Private Wayne Strimple was wounded in action in the European theater with the Third Army. He joined the Army in May 1944 and has overseas since November, serving as a bazooka operator in Belgium Luxembourg and Germany. He previously was wounded on November 26 and awarded the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman’s Badge. Before service he worked for Amarillo Baking Co.
