A thousand youngsters filled the air with melodies as the eleventh Panhandle Music Festival entered its second day. A massed band concert led by Helen Fouts Cahoon and Horace Jones highlighted today’s program at the Municipal Auditorium with ten out of town bands and a closing event planned for tomorrow.
County and city officers seized a 300 gallon copper equipped whisky still this morning marking the largest seizure in two years. Details indicate the operation stretched across the local area with the plant found in a hidden location. Page 2.
Amarillo and cities statewide marked Texas independence day with bank closures and school programs. Flags flew as residents recall March 2 1836 when Texas declared independence at Washington on the Brazos. Washington March 2 President Roosevelt asked Congress to authorize him to bargain with foreign nations on tariff concessions and to re enact the Philippine Independence Bill. He urged limited executive power to modify duties to aid American agriculture and industry while preserving bases until independence. He pressed for Hawes Cutting law revision and noted stalled Senate action during recess.
David Hutton testifies in Los Angeles court about failed marriage to Aimee Semple McPherson. Judge Yankwich notes he was treated as third fiddle. Hutton jokes about wardrobe as he leaves with decree. meanwhile Noland Tucker seeks $6000 in damages for being thrown from the temple.
Captain Walter Jensen of the School of Aviation Medicine testified that Major William C. Ocker was qualified to pilot with a permanent fat eye defect and a waiver. He said no reason existed to remove Ocker from flying status. Major Clyde C. Johnston admitted altering board findings over lack of concurrence.

Denton March 2 Two youths escape from Denton County jail after two girls pick a lock in the women's runway freeing themselves and 10 men including a murder suspect. Five escapees are recaptured. others remain at large as authorities raid a deserted barn to reclaim suspects.
Forecast for Amarillo and vicinity calls for fair weather tonight and Saturday with partly cloudy skies. West Texas and New Mexico see little change in temperature with today’s extremes reaching 36 to 47 degrees by 1 PM.
Washington March 2 The administration unveiled a new relief program to replace the CWA. Hopkins of the Federal Relief and Civil Works Administration said several rural states would begin Monday with full implementation. He did not specify the states.
Washington March 21 Franklin D Roosevelt remains in fine shape says White House physician Dr K R T McIntyre. He notes the President is healthier today than a year ago and credits a cheerful optimistic outlook and good general attitude. The White House family has enjoyed a healthy year with Roosevelt grandchildren scarcely ill.
The Rasputin libel trial heard fresh sensational testimony as Commander Oliver Locker-Lampson, a longtime MP, said he was invited to join the murder plot against Rasputin and that he briefly discussed joining the slaying with Vladimer Purishkevitch. The evidence followed a dramatic day in the $2 million case over the film Rasputin and the Empress.
