A Texas Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed a 12 year sentence for assault with intent to rob. Johnnie Barnes of Galveston was convicted in connection with an alleged attempt to rob M. N. Bleich and will serve twelve years. The court found no error and deemed the evidence sufficient.
Col. A P Duggan president of the West Texas chamber of commerce told the Panhandle Livestock Association that ninety nine Texas counties receive a state bonus and in three years collected 9 738 044 more than they paid for all purposes. He urged state wide action to remedy the inequities noting transportation and McNary Haugen hill as issues and that the convention closed with resolutions praising local facilities and inviting a 1928 Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers meet in Amarillo.
Potter County calls in all outstanding hospital bonds after five years. County Treasurer J L Shea announces the $210000 issue called in, bonds from 1922 bearing 50 percent interest are reissued via H C Burton Company at six percent. Resale expected to save about $12000 for the county, new bonds run forty years at 6 percent.
H. L. Shores of Wichita Kansas was arrested this morning on a telegraphic complaint from Wichita authorities on charges of wife desertion. He is being held by city officers.
Amarillo Automotive association opens a three day display at the Tri-State fair grounds with twenty eight makes shown. The crowd-filled opening day and today’s sessions feature sport models dominating the display and performance program.

In New York on March 2 the jury considering the fate of former Attorney General Harry M. Daugherty and Col. Thomas W. Miller after a thirteen hour deadlock went to lunch at 1 pm without a verdict on conspiracy charges.
Immediate construction of a new line from Lima Oklahoma was ordered by Rock Island Lines. The line will provide additional service in the Seminole oil fields.
Police arrest and detain Charles E. Gables alias L Valeria and M. Davis alias Dailey. City police chief Ed Holloway reports the pair in custody for California Department of Justice agents expected to arrive in the city later in the week.
Olga Petrova told a legislative committee that if women served on juries in New York state many suits would be hopeless from the start. She argued for mandatory jury service as part of the discussion on this issue.
The Hereford breeders association held a large show at Amarillo fairgrounds with fifty registered Herefords competing for prizes awarded by I. I. Conner of Claude Texas. The cattle, many headed to Fort Worth for next week’s show, were noted for quality and condition. The event featured two aged bulls and a 2-year-old bull among numerous yearlings and calves. DL. McDonald won the bull grand championship.
A manifesto issued in Mexico City by the Union of Central and South America and the Antilles orders a continental boycott of everything made in the United States. It vows action to resist US military and political pressure and to demand revocation of treaties deemed onerous, with proclamations to spread across Latin America.

A Texas Company and Columbian Carbon Company backed proposal asks Kansas City for a franchise to distribute natural gas piped from the Texas Panhandle. They claim 150,000 acres of gas land and 150 billion cubic feet daily, with a 400 mile twenty two inch pipeline costing 20 million dollars. Frank P. Fisher of Hope Engineering leads talks.
Washington March 2 The Senate balked Senator Reed's effort to extend the life of his campaign fund investigating committee. The chamber, after a paralyzing tangle, resumed work on the prohibition reorganization bill under a strict debate rule. Reed warned he would keep the Senate in session, but rivals blocked action until the prohibition bill moved at 1 p.m.
Police report thieves blew open the Amarillo Lumber office at 601 Washington and stole 7 50. Investigators found improvised tools and a nitro glycerine charge used on the door. Fingerprint experts gathered clues as part of the investigation.
Congress meets at noon as the Senate debates a prohibition reorganization bill. The House proceeds with its miscellaneous schedule while a lake diversion hearing continues before Special Master Hughes.
