A man about 25 robbed Covington State Bank in Covington Texas on June 28, forced bank president M T Davis to drive him to a point ten miles southwest where he met two accomplices and fled with about $1000. Davis, cashier R C Smith and bookkeeper Loraine Willetts were in the bank. no one injured.

Bricks bottles and clubs flew while both sides held back a wider armed confrontation after hours of tension. Naval officers and police representatives met to negotiate control of arrests ashore.

Crown Point Indiana June 28 A man familiar with Dillinger said he saw the outlaw at a baseball game at Wrigley Field in Chicago Tuesday. St Paul June 28 A federal investigator was told Pat Reilly held on harboring Dillinger this spring is dead.
The Supreme Court upheld the death sentences of Clarence Norris and Heyward Patterson in the Scottsboro case. It set execution for August 21. In Patterson’s case the bill of exception was struck, limiting review to court records and blocking merits review. Justice Gardner rejected claims of systematic juror exclusion, finding jury selection fair and duties properly discharged. The defendants had been convicted of attacking Victoria Price on a 1931 freight train near Paint Rock, Alabama.
