President Roosevelt urged Congress to remove tax exemptions for securities financing a three point eight six billion dollar extra budget program. He pressed for tax exemption elimination on all future government bonds and explained that only government backing can attract private funds for essential projects.
Sixteen children and four adults enjoyed a 75 mile plane ride in a Braniff aircraft. The trip capped a fundraiser for the Preventorium after a Saturday matinee at the State Theater where boys donated books to win the ride. The youngsters, many red haired, rode in groups of nine or eight and found the takeoff and air pockets exciting.
The show features rifle and archery ranges, bass casting by Jack Lamb, and a miniature trap range. Child tickets are 20 cents and adult 40 cents, with all exhibits included. The event runs all week starting Monday at 9 a.m., sponsored by Globe News and the Texas Game Commission with local sports groups, expecting 30 000 visitors.

In Jackson Mississippi 150 national guardsmen raided a 14 mile outlaw district across from the statehouse seizing gambling devices and liquor. Police arrested 60 operators and workers and released most on bond after hearings.
Freckled 17-year-old Bill Roden of Glen Rose stunned top contender Billy Bob Coffey in the first round of the West Texas Golf Association tournament in Fort Worth. Roden edged Coffey 1 up after a late birdie run on the seventeenth and eighteenth greens. Other results include Boden, Jennings, Malone, Tripp, Norton, Willis and Austin advancing in various matches. Hitler to address Italian veterans in Munich at 4:30 PM Sunday.
Representative Edith Nourse Rogers of Massachusetts called on President Roosevelt to transmit to the House any information indicating that actual war is imminent in Europe. She introduced a resolution seeking state department files and other data, tying the move to urgency around the Bloom neutralty amendments.
Amarillo officials including Judge J N Riggs and probation officer M O Moore link juvenile delinquency to parental neglect and poverty. They describe 13 to 17 year old girls living in a mule barn near the railroad and engaging with itinerant men.
