Warships moved toward Valencia as Madrid reported possible blockades by Italo German forces.
Judge W. E. Gee of Amarillo dismissed a district court session at Plainview noting the wheat crop's urgency. He said harvest demands made jury duty unfair and returned to Amarillo with reports of a bumper South Plains harvest. In Plainview he served in the 64th District Court for Judge C. D. Russell.

In Newark New Jersey Ellis H Parker senior and Ellis H Parker junior face conspiracy charges in the kidnapping of Paul H Wendel. The eight men and four women jury began deliberations at 12 44 PM EDT after nine weeks of trial in federal court.
