Two Amarillo men, R. C. Higginbotham and Weldon Gregory, were hospitalized after a truck transmission exploded near Four-Way on the Dumas Highway. He was joined by Virgil Patterson of First National Bank and Rex Baxter of the Chamber of Commerce to discuss transferring 184 Army Tech housing units from the Public Housing Administration to the city. Congress may extend PHA operating authority for another year. without it the Army Tech Village must be transferred by June 30. The City’s land purchase for the transfer was approved by FPHA Fort Worth and is under review by other federal agencies. Carson County Commissioners are pursuing similar action for Pantex housing units.

Fined for Throwing Beer Can on Road
Howard Simpson an 18 year old was fined one dollar and court costs in justice court for throwing an empty beer can on the highway near Amarillo on US Highway 66. He pleaded guilty saying a companion emptied the can and handed it to him. The offense is a misdemeanor. He was arrested Wednesday by Highway Patrolmen.
