Toughest Legislature Session Says Sen Grady Hazlewood Amarillo

Sen Grady Hazlewood of Amarillo calls the latest legislative session the toughest he has served in since 1941. He pushed two major bills, the sweet gas and plumbing control measures, amid fierce opposition from Phillips Petroleum Texhoma Natural Gas and Lone Star Gas. The gas bill allows sweet gas sales to carbon black makers with production tied to carbon black output and area price benchmarks. The plumbing bill creates a state board of plumbing examiners enabling licensed plumbers to work statewide. The session lasted 143 days. Hazlewood returned to his law office after the Capitol trip. A first edition of Alice in Wonderland sold for 4800 pounds at a London auction. Britain embraces coffee as a tea alternative.
