Ex Legion Chief Burned By Gas Explosion Near Henderson
Bodenhamer former national commander of the American Legion was severely burned when gas exploded among oil wells he owned eight miles west of Henderson. He had stopped at his five producers with assistant R C Cook to discuss reopening wells after a three day shutdown. The blast occurred as Bodenhamer lit a cigarette. Cook suffered burns to hands and face and both were taken to a Henderson hospital. Bodenhamer remained conscious but burned from head to foot.
