In Dallas on June 18 B. P. Brown a 30 year old supply pastor at North Dallas Baptist Church was kidnapped from the Adolphus Hotel and taken to the church where captors tied a rope to a ceiling fan and attempted to strangle him with a new rope. He survived with toes touching the floor.

Judge W. R. Ely of the State Highway Commission announced more than 4 million dollars of highway work will be spent in the Amarillo division soon. He said about 18 million dollars is available statewide for road projects with 4 million earmarked for Amarillo. Quin ton given life for stabbing of 18 year old
Quinton Dolphus, 23, was sentenced to life in prison for the April 5 murder of George Smoot, 18, who was stabbed to death with a butcher knife near Featherson. A Pittsburgh County jury convicted Quinton late yesterday.
