Homer Garrison director of state police announced Texas needs drivers license examiners. He said men aged 23 to 35 not committed to other work or a definite date with the draft board are in demand for these posts.
At Graham North Carolina June 15 a draft board clerk recounts a man rushing to his home saying he wants to join the army to better support his five children. The story notes salary increases approved by a committee would raise a wife’s monthly pay to 102 dollars and the husband to 28 dollars plus board and quarters in Congress.
