State police depleted by war service leave

The Amarillo Globe reports Texas state police are reduced as many examiners and patrolmen join the military. Sixty five officers are on leave as soldiers sailors marines and coast guardsmen. Eight Panhandle men joined the coast guard. Driver license exams will be held in patrol districts with successful applicants sent to Camp Mabry Austin for brief training.

Drivers License Examiners Sought by Texas State Police

Homer Garrison director of state police announced Texas needs drivers license examiners. He said men aged 23 to 35 not committed to other work or a definite date with the draft board are in demand for these posts.
