Kidnappers Held After Mother's Call to Police
In Chicago a mother Rose Welch of Toledo alerted police when her son Harry Seigal phoned for ransom. Seigal and Harry Sway were arrested at a house after Welch agreed to deliver $2,000, which spurred the men to flee while others were questioned. Welch said the gang burned him with a hot hammer and threatened him with a machine gun. Four others were held for questioning.

Jury Selected for Trial of Mrs Daniels
A jury was completed before noon in the case of Mrs Frances Daniels who faces a charge of driving while intoxicated. The trial follows an accident on March 21 in which three year old Shirley Palmateer was killed on South Arthur Street. Amarillo attorney Joe V Moore has been convicted of murder without malice and sentenced to five years in prison.
