Thelma Clark, 39, city women’s golf champion, was killed in a rifle ambush in Pontiac Michigan. Her mother Ray Gorsline, 58, and escort Charlie Moore, 38, were wounded as a man identified as Lloyd Gesch, 50, a former suitor, fled the scene after threatening words at a tavern. Moore drove to a police station with a bullet wound to his ankle. both wounded remained in fair condition at Pontiac General Hospital.
Chicago June 9 A P The search for Stanley William McKenna Walker 50 an Oxford graduate and heir to half of an eight million dollar English estate focused on Skid Row. Once a British Army captain and Bank of England manager he vanished after family deaths in the Liverpool blitz. He lived in Chicago since 1941 and was naturalized in Uniontown Pa. Authorities pursue leads from a friend who says Walker favored cheap hotels and whiskey and may be among transient derelicts in the area.
Judge Harris Lofthus fined John S. Rogers 50 dollars and Vernon W. Carter 30 for a post midnight street race at Sev enth and Harrison to Seventh in Amarillo. Rogers refused to sign his ticket and spent the night in jail before posting the fine. Carter paid 20 dollars less. A separate speeding and reckless driving ticket was issued to Jack A. Raymond for a Polk Street run between Tenth and Sixteenth.
Chief meteorologist H. C. Winburn at Amarillo Air Terminal forecast fair skies and warm temperatures with little change. The five day outlook shows no precipitation, tonight and Saturday remain clear with highs near 91 and lows around 58. Yesterday reached 94 with a 57 low.
FBI Chief J Edgar Hoover told Congress the agency is examining possible Communist links to the Brinks armored car robbery in Boston. He said no evidence yet supports Communist involvement and noted the large sum could aid subversive aims.

Wichita County totals 98,036, up 24,432 since 1940, with Burkburnett and Iowa Park posting gains.
Final census figures show Armstrong County population fell by 290 to 2205, while Claude rose by 59 to 820. Claude’s 761 count ten years ago marks growth, and rural Armstrong County declined 349, mirroring trends in nearby Panhandle counties, with no further figures before Monday announced by Walter Shaller.
