Amarillo seeks lower rail rates for stocker cattle
Amarillo has asked railroads to amend tariffs so stocker and feeder cattle moving into the city follow stocker and feeder rates at 8 percent of beef cattle rates. J. Cole of the Chamber of Commerce traffic department is cited. The Secretary of Agriculture listed Amarillo as a public market point with the lower rate but it was later dropped. Applies to inter state shipments only. Texas already enjoys the lower rate. Alaska's fishery industry employed about 23,000 people in 1931.
