First Wheat Delivered in Claude Harvest

Claude R. Jones delivered the first 1945 harvest truckload of wheat to Claude. The wheat tested 58 pounds per bushel and brought $1.40 per bushel plus a premium from Weeks and Bagwell Elevator Co. The early load came from a field about 10 miles west of Claude yielding roughly 15 bushels per acre.
