Boner Causes Extra Election In Texas
The Texas legislature draft to amend the state constitution to sell land to veterans was filed with a separate election date. Officials say the amendment would require a Nov 7 election, though general election day is Nov 5, creating an extra expense. Gov. Coke R Stevenson noted the error and said nothing can be done because constitutional amendments cannot be submitted at a special session. The measure plans $25 million in bonds for land sales to veterans.
