AUSTIN June 6 The 99 year sentence for Lloyd Conatser in Jones county for participating in the slaying of a Fisher county sheriff and his deputy was affirmed by the court of criminal appeals. Bill Smith, convicted with Conatser, is in a prison death cell awaiting execution.

Three masked men held up the night clerk and two employees of the Marbee hotel on Canal street New Orleans and escaped with 600 dollars. The incident occurred in the evening at the independent lodging house, with police seeking suspects.
Five airmen long missing in Alaska were found safe at Point Barrow. Noel Wien and Russell Merrill led a relief flight from Fairbanks to Point Barrow. Merrill walked 100 miles for aid and was hospitalized with snow blindness. Other crew members and passengers received medical care as searchers report the overdue planes forced down 150 miles from Barrow.
A bandit robbed the Bank of Breckenridge ten days earlier, taking $1,100 in currency. He arrived in a blue coupe, forced cashier Walter K E Pralle to turn away, rifled the counter, and looted the vault though the safe was not entered. He left before the alarm was spread.
Houston June 6 prison officials at Blue Ridge prison farm investigated a shooting last Saturday night that left J M Stone Weatherford trusted inmate dead as guards tried to stop an escape on the farm.
Captain Charles Kingsford Smith and three crewmen plan to depart Suva Fiji for Brisbane in the Southern Cross tomorrow or Friday, with 900 gallons of gasoline and a chosen takeoff field.
