Generals And GIs Return Home In New York Welcome

On June 4 New York celebrated hero day as nearly 11 000 GIs and ten generals returned from Europe. Generals Bradley Spaatz Huebner and Quesada arrived by air or ship after a fogbound convoy near disaster. Bradley announced plans to go to Japan while Spaatz praised airpower and claimed Germany was destroyed.

Fleets of 1,000 B-29s To Hit Japan Soon

Washington June 4 Col Albert L Warner chief of the war intelligence division says B 29 superfortresses may be massed in 1000 plane fleets and larger. Speaking on the Army Hour Warner noted the growth from a year ago when a handful of planes began the first strikes to over 500 planes now and predicted the number will double.

Dalhart and Clarendon barely measured. Hail damaged crops near Perryton Booker and west of Amarillo with losses reported by farmers including John Longhoofer of Gaylord. Weatherman Winburn noted wheat and row crops may gain little, though some relief for range remains possible.
