A city building inspector issued an interior balcony permit this morning for The Nat dance venue. Contractor S. F. Pelton said the $1,700 project should finish by June 20 and owner H. C Bodger is listed on the permit. A separate fire near Pioneer, Brown County, caused by lightning, destroyed the Humble Company Gathering plant with an estimated loss of $50,000.

St Anthony's Hospital received word this morning that William Bynum American National Bank teller is in slightly better condition after a Wednesday night accident. He fell from a moving car while standing on the running board holding material to make a ping pong table due to suction from the passing vehicle.

Mozelle Cherry is reported doing nicely this morning after a major operation yesterday at St. Anthony's Hospital. Floods Across Panhandle Open Key Highways

Flood conditions eased as Two Panhandle highways reopened. Highway No. 5 from Dalhart to Texline and Highway 86 west to Tucumcari were passable though motorists faced slick roads. Mud blocked Highway 66 near Acrian for about a day and Highway 60 near Hereford to Clovis remained impassable. rainfall varied from half to 1.5 inches on the South Plains.
