Study proposes bunker barriers at two Amarillo area exits

Potter County officials studied two dangerous intersections east of Amarillo, US 66 and 287 at Pullman Switch Road, after four deaths last week. The plan calls for dirt center barrier and widened approaches with 14 foot bunker barriers at the north and south entries to 66 and the south entry to 287, requiring minimal right of way.

Rain Dump Delays Across Tri-State Area

Rain fell across the Tri-State area last night with varied totals from Amarillo to surrounding towns. Amarillo downtown reported heavy rainfall with a River Road area tally over an inch, while forecasts call for more thundershowers and cooler weather tonight and Saturday. Trees in Parkway Battered by reckless motorists

Gunshot Fatal to Woman in Pleasant Valley

Mrs. L. L. Gouldinge was found dead in her Pleasant Valley home shortly before noon. A .22 rifle lay on the bed beside her body after a single-shot discharge. Her son Jack, 16, found the scene. no witnesses. Justice C. W. Carder investigated but no verdict had been returned by early afternoon.

Lightning Strikes North Houston Home Narrow Escape

Mrs. H. W. Hunter of 1312 North Houston had a close call when a lightning bolt struck her house early today. Grass in the yard burned, a hole burned in the refrigerator, and the bed blanket was scorched, with damage to gas lines and wiring. the electric clock halted at 3. Records Flood at Municipal Vault After Rain Deluge

Water from a roof leak drenched the city auditorium vault office where records stored in fiberboard cabinets were soaked. Downspouts were clogged causing water to pour onto the vault ceiling and walls, soaking vouchers, ledgers, receipts, and other papers as electric fans labored to dry the mess.
