Frank Henry Wins Wings Despite Earlier Washout
Lt. Frank Henry son of Mr and Mrs William P Henry of 605 North Pierce Street earned Army Air Corps wings after an initial washout. He began with Amarillo high school and Amarillo College studying aeronautics, held a civilian pilot license, served as a drill instructor at Sheppard Field, then joined Officers’ Candidate School and was commissioned in September 1942. He reentered flight training in August and earned wings at Spence Field Georgia this spring becoming a pursuit pilot. He married a St Louis girl in April and they visited Amarillo before returning to Spence Field.
