Japan's Premier Okada on naval parity not sought now

Premier Keisuke Okada told foreign correspondents Japan does not expect the United States or Britain to cut naval armaments to Japan's level. He left open whether to abrogate the 1922 Washington Treaty and urged reductions by the heaviest armed nations to ease global taxation and tensions. He expressed belief the 1935 naval conference can succeed and stressed Japan's aim to retain Pacific islands for commercial reasons while pursuing friendly U.S.-Japan relations. Two brief society notes follow about Blanche Walker's vacation plans and J. J. Talley and D. A. Medley's fishing trip.
