Carnival Men Hurt In Texas Crash Near Amarillo

Four members of the Ala mo Carnival are hospitalized at St Anthony s with non critical injuries after a small truck carrying thirteen carnival workers and a hitchhiker overturned into a ditch about 25 miles north of Amarillo just before 2 AM. The truck was travelling from Colorado Springs and most men were asleep when the accident occurred. Two injured were taken to the hospital by a Blackburn ambulance.

Last Chance to Buy Horse Show Boxes at Tri-State Park

Only two full boxes and a few individual seats remained unsold at the Tri-State Fair grandstand for the Mid-Summer Horse Show this Saturday. State tax rate set for the new fiscal year

The state automatic tax board in Austin set a total tax rate of 69 cents per $100 for the coming fiscal year starting September 1, one cent above the prior rate. Estimated revenue from the rate was placed at $10,883,512.95.

Fire swept eight south end businesses in Houston

A blaze started in a cleaning and pressing shop in Houston and spread to eight south end businesses and the Almeda apartments, causing an estimated loss of more than 200000 dollars. Three men were slightly injured, including Lee Selise, 24, a city fireman who was cut and bruised while fleeing a burning building.

Foster Named by Policeman as Lingle Killer

Chicago gunman Frank Foster was identified by Patrolman Ruthy as the slayer of Tribune reporter Alfred Jake Lingle. Ruthy pursued the assailant through a crowd along Michigan Boulevard before Foster’s arrest in Los Angeles following an indictment for the murder.
