A liquor law violation charge was filed this morning at Canyon against H. C. Fields. Randall County deputy sheriff Bob Barnett seized 12 1/2 gallons of whiskey from Fields and his Chevrolet touring car seven miles from Amarillo on the Canyon highway. Fields was jailed in Amarillo to await transfer to Randall County jail. The car and liquor were brought into Amarillo.

Two Army cadets die in Fort Clark crash
Cadets Robert P. Burke of Dyersburg Tennessee and George M. ORear of Jasper Alabama were killed when their bombing plane crashed at Fort Clark during a cross country training flight from Kelly Field. ORear was piloting the craft and Burke was a passenger. The plane fell from about 200 feet and did not burn. An aerial ambulance was sent from Kelly Field to recover the bodies.
