Barron Injured In Car Crash Near Des Moines
Robert Louis Barron former Amarillo Philharmonic director and Amarillo College instructor was seriously hurt when his car hit a concrete bridge upright on Highway 87 near Des Moines NM about 40 miles north of Clayton. He lost consciousness and was transported to Clayton Hospital then Glockner Hospital Colorado Springs with a fractured hip and possible internal injuries. His condition improved to favorable by noon.

The race between James G. Lumpkin and Ernest O. Northcutt for associate justice of the Seventh Court of Civil Appeals drew the most interest.
